Newcastle United will now be away on their holidays after a fine end to the campaign.

With the exception of the internationals, the Magpies can now put their feet up for a few weeks having secured Premier League safety and pretty comfortably.

Meanwhile, Eddie Howe will be keenly pushing on in a bid to land new signings, armed with a substantial budget, thanks to the club’s new owners.

Howe has a number of areas he needs to strengthen if he wants his team to finish in the top half - or better - next season.

And so, he will need to spend well, and as the former Bournemouth boss and his staff scour the market for new signings, we have rounded up all the latest rumours.

Duo detback

Newcastle will have to stump up a huge amount of cash to land either or both of their Atletico Madrid targets this summer.

Atetico stars Renan Lodi and Yannick Carrasco have been linked with the Magpies over recent weeks.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants are not going to make it easy for Newcastle to sign either player.

It’s claimed Atleti will not entertain any offer below €40million (£34million) for Lodi, while they will demand the full value of Carrasco’s release clause, which is €70million (£59.6million).

Winks update

Newcastle are also said to be battling for the signing of Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks.

According to the Daily Mail, via TeamTALK, Winks has been told he has no future at Tottenham ahead of next season.

And that has alerted both Newcastle and Southampton, who are battling it out for the midfielder’s signature.

The latest reports claim Newcastle will need to pay somewhere between £20million and £25million to pull off the deal.

But the presence of two clubs in the race could see that fee inflated.
