Newcastle United were dealt a major injury blow in the build-up to tonight’s Premier League kick-off against Leicester City.

Joelinton was named in the starting XI alongside Bruno Guimaraes and the returning Sean Longstaff in the midfield three but was forced to withdraw.

The Brazilian hobbled out of the warm-up early before taking his strappings off and heading down the St James’ Park tunnel.

Elliot Anderson came in for the 26-year-old for only his second-ever Premier League start.
