Newcastle United double injury boost v Luton Town as £58m duo spotted at St James' Park

Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson have arrived at St James' Park for Newcastle United v Luton Town.

Newcastle United welcome back Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson into today's matchday squad against Luton Town.

The Magpies have been without Barnes since he suffered a toe injury in the early stages of the 8-0 win at Sheffield United in September The 26-year-old was initially expected to return around the festive period but a slight setback delayed his comeback.

But after the winger has trained with the squad this week and is on the bench at St James' Park this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Wilson is back in the squad for the first time in 2024. The England international has missed the last five matches with a calf issue. Both Barnes and Wilson have been spotted arriving at St James' Park.

Alexander Isak, Joe Willock or Jamaal Lascelles, who Newcastle assistant coach Jason Tindal suggested were close to returning, aren't in the squad.

"There's a potential [of injury returns], there's a couple of lads who are getting closer, " said Tindall on Friday. "We've got another training session today and once that's done we'll assess the squad and see where we're at.

"We've got Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock are all close but we'll make a decision on them. Harvey and Callum are a little bit head of Joe.  Jamaal Lascelles is very, very close. If not this game he'll not be far away."
