Newcastle United expected starting XI at Tottenham - two changes & big Jonjo Shelvey call

Newcastle United are back in Premier League action against Tottenham Hotspur following a 16-day break.

Eddie Howe’s side headed into the international on the back of two straight 1-0 defeats at Chelsea and Everton.

They jetted off to Dubai for their second warm-weather training camp of the year before finishing off their Spurs preparations on Tyneside.

United hold a nine-point advantage over the Premier League relegation zone following a recent nine-game unbeaten, which included six wins out of seven.

However, now is time to ensure their excellent form doesn’t count for nothing by securing their top-flight status at the earliest opportunity.

In terms of his team selection ahead of the visit to North London, Howe has some tough calls to make.

Martin Dubravka and Fabian Schar are expected to be passed fit, while Jonjo Shelvey, after missing the last two games, is set to come back in contention.

Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, Miguel Almiron and Emil Krafth have all been on international duty - could that impact their selection?

Here, we predict Howe’s Newcastle United starting XI to face Antonio Conte’s Spurs:
