Eddie Howe’s men return to St James’ Park for the first time since beating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 on March 5.
And after four consecutive games away from home, Howe will hope a bit of home comfort, where they have won three in a row, will spark a better result for United.
Ahead of kick-off, the Magpies sit seven points above the Premier League relegation zone after Burnley’s win against Everton on Wednesday night.
Three points for Newcastle will see them take a big step towards survival. A defeat, however, leaves the door open for the Clarets and Watford to climb closer.
It’s a massive game under the lights on Tyneside, so it’s imperative that Howe gets his team selection right.
Certainly, changes are expected following last Sunday’s 5-1 hammering at Tottenham Hotspur.
