Newcastle United expected starting XI versus Burnley - two changes as key man misses out
Who will Eddie Howe name in his Newcastle United starting XI to face Burnley?
Newcastle United will round-off their 2021/22 Premier League campaign with an away trip to relegation-threatened Burnley.
A win for Eddie Howe’s side could see them climb into the top 10 if results go their way.
But for the Clarets, the potential outcome is so much greater with their top-flight status at risk.
Mike Jackson’s side, 17th in the table, must match Leeds United’s result at Brentford to confirm survival in front of their home fans at Turf Moor.
“We’ll pick our strongest team, and try and win the game,” United’s head coach vowed. There’s no let up from our perspective. We’re determined to end the season on a high.
“Tactically, we’ll try and get it right. Burnley’s a totally different challenge.”
Here’s our predicted Newcastle United starting XI to face Burnley:

1. GK: Martin Dubravka

2. RB: Kieran Trippier (in for Emil Krafth)
Krafth, outstanding again versus Arsenal, deserves to play but supporters are keen to see Trippier start on the final day after he was an unused substitute on Monday. Photo: Stu Forster

3. CB: Jamaal Lascelles (in for Fabian Schar)
Lascelles replaced Fabian Schar, who took a bang to the head, early in the second-half against Arsenal. Always relishes a physical battle, and that’s exactly what you get versus Burnley.

4. CB: Dan Burn
The Blyth-born defender has a been very reliable and pretty much ever-present member of Howe’s starting XI following his £15m move from Brighton in January. Photo: Stu Forster
