Newcastle United expected starting XI vs Manchester United - including two ‘harsh’ changes
Newcastle United’s expected starting line-up to face Manchester United - including two changes.
Newcastle United head to Old Trafford full of confidence after scoring nine goals in back-to-back wins against Fulham and Brentford.
It’s been a strong start to the Premier League campaign by Eddie Howe’s side, who have collected 14 points from their opening nine games.
Having already faced Liverpool and Manchester City this season, the Magpies are preparing for another tough test.
“These games are very difficult at the best of times but if you go into the games confident and a good feeling in the group, it gives you the best chance of a positive result,” Howe said.
“We know the next group of games are tough games but we’re going to try and attack them, rise to the occasion and give our all to get another positive result.
Manchester United, although endured a rocky start, have recovered to sit one point and one place above Newcastle in the table.
There is a feeling that Newcastle fancy their chances against the Red Devils as they look to seal only their second-ever win at Old Trafford.
Here, NewcastleWorld predicts the starting XI Howe will name to take on Erik ten Hag’s side:

1. GK: Nick Pope
Pope has quickly established himself as Newcastle’s No.1 goalkeeper following Martin Dubravka’s loan exit to Sunday’s opponents.

2. RB: Kieran Trippier
Alongside Bruno Guimarae, Trippier dictates the game and is a huge attacking threat - two things you wouldn’t associate with a right-back.

3. CB: Fabian Schar
Schar has quietly gone about his business this season. Has been a solid and consistent performer since Howe arrived as head coach.

4. CB: Sven Botman
The £35m summer signing gives Newcastle a different dynamic with his ability to play out from the back and look so comfortable in possession.
