Big move needed for Lingard

A move for England star Lingard is also on the list of priorities with The Athletic’s David Ornstein suggesting United will have to “blow him out of the water” if they are to secure a deal.

He told Sky Sports: “It’s a really live, fluid, unpredictable situation that went on late in last night with calls flying to and fro because Newcastle United are prepare to throw everything to get Jesse Lingard.

“And that’s what it will take, it will take a huge offer because he doesn’t need to leave Manchester United, he becomes a free agent in the summer so will have his pick of clubs.

“So if Newcastle are going to manage to lure him to St James Park, they will have to blow him out of the water and I am told they are prepared to do that, but they will need to form an agreement with Manchester United and with Lingard himself.”

An offer of around £14.5million is said to be on the table for a player that joined Bayer Leverkusen from PSG for a fee of £8million last summer.

Former and current Gunners on their way to St James Park

The same source have revealed Newcastle have been handed a boost in their bid for Juventus and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey after Crystal Palace withdrew their interest in the former Arsenal star.

A current Gunners player is set to be a loan target for Eddie Howe with 90mins stating Newcastle will look to complete a temporary move for Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Chelsea star eyed

French outlet Footmercato have suggested the Magpies are one of four Premier League clubs showing an interest in a loan deal for Chelsea defender Malang Sarr.

Everton, West Ham and Leicester City are also said to be eyeing a move for the centre-back.
