Eddie Howe may have ruled out Newcastle United’s interest in blockbuster signings like Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, but there is still scope to onboard other new recruitments this summer. In fact, the Magpies have found themselves linked to plenty of players off the back of their superb run in the Premier League this season.

Two new reports have emerged connecting Newcastle to some potential new signings. The first being Arkadiusz Milik, who is currently on loan with Juventus from Marseille. According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Howe and his team are eyeing up the Polish striker as he prepares to return to France this month.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a healthy goal-scoring career so far with a number of clubs. Milik has 153 career goals, having scored 48 with Napoli, 47 with Ajax and 30 with Marseille up until now. He is also said to be available for €7-8 million (£6-6.8m), which is a sensible price for a player who will likely serve as back-up at St James’ Park.

However, Newcastle aren’t the only ones in the running for Milik’s signature. Newly promoted Premier League side Burnley and Serie A giants Lazio are also interested in signing the striker this summer.

Another name on Howe’s radar is São Paulo midfielder Pablo Maia, who is commanding a lot of interest from several clubs in Europe. That’s according to São Paulo Sempre, who have named Newcastle as potential suitors alongside West Ham, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and even Atlético Madrid.

Maia is a product of the São Paulo youth system and has made 84 appearances for the first team since being making his senior debut last year. Despite his contract running until 2027, the Brazilian outfit are willing to listen to offers in the region of €15 million (£12m) for Maia, as per Globo Esporte.
