Newcastle United fans speculate as agent of RB Salzburg star lands on Tyneside

Football agent Elvis Basanovic has been spotted on Tyneside - and it’s left Newcastle United fans wondering if there is a potential transfer in the making.

Basanovic, whose agency is called Pro Transfer Agency, posted an Instagram story publicising his trip to Newcastle on Tuesday night.

The image, which showed Basanovic to be enjoying a meal on the Quayside, was immediately spotted by Magpies supporters, who are desperate for news on possible incomings ahead of the new Premier League season.

The post was deleted around 12 hours later after gaining a huge amount of traction for Newcastle fans.

Basanovic most prominently represents RB Salzburg young forward Benjamin Sesko.

Eddie Howe is in the market for a striker this summer after failing to land Hugo Ekitike, who joined Paris Saint-Germain instead.

The Magpies head coach wants to sign a player in similar mold to Ekitike - young, big potential and has the ability to rival Callum Wilson and Chris Wood for a starting place.

While there is nothing to say Sesko is definitely a target for Newcastle - or that Basanovic is here for business - the 19-year-old does tick all those boxes.

The 13-time capped Slovenia international scored 11 goals in 37 appearances for Salzburg last season.
