Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe will consider naming Joe Willock in his starting XI for tonight's FA Cup fifth round clash away to Blackburn Rovers.
The 24-year-old marked his comeback after three months out by scoring a late consolation goal in the Magpies' 4-1 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday night.
Willock's substitute appearance was only his seventh in total this season having suffered from a hamstring and Achilles injury during the opening months before sustaining a recurrence of the latter in November.
Given Willock's recent injury problems, Howe will carefully consider his decision. He said: "It’s something I’ll have to discuss at length with the medical team. I think he’s very, very close to starting, he’s done a lot of work.
"Although we’ve only seen the 30 minutes or so that he played against Arsenal, he’s actually done a lot of work, and he seems to be getting himself into a position (to start), so that’ll be a judgement call.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle hope to welcome back Martin Dubravka after the goalkeeper missed the visit to North London through illness.
“We hope that he’s improved," said Howe. "We hope he’s available for selection, although at this moment in time, we still don’t know.”
In Nick Pope and Dubravka's absence, Loris Karius made his first appearance for 12 months, and his first in the Premier League since May 2018.
Here's the list of Newcastle United players available to Howe as he looks to guide the club into the last eight of the competition for only the second time in 18 years.
