Newcastle United given green light to sign £80m striker on loan in January

Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly allow Randal Kolo Muani to leave on loan in the January transfer window.

Signed for £80million less than 18 months ago, the Frenchman has bagged just eight league goals since his big-money move. Muani has found himself in and out of the team under Luis Enrique, who has played Ousmane Dembele as a false No.9.

PSG are making a conscious effort to move away from the superstar model that failed to deliver a Champions League. While Muani, at 25, aligns with that blueprint, his performances have not been up to scratch.

Goncalo Ramos is also waiting in the wings when he returns from an ankle injury - making competition for places stiff at the Parc des Princes. A contract until 2028 means the Parisians are in no desperate need to sell but would be open to a loan move this winter.

FootballTransfers claim a temporary switch would suit Newcastle given the FFP/PSR climate. West Ham United are another Premier League club named as potential suitors.

The Magpies have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson in the striker department to call upon but both - especially the latter - continue to battle fitness issues. As for summer recruit William Osula, he is viewed as one for the future and still honing his craft under Eddie Howe.

Muani kept positive about enjoying a successful career in Paris earlier this week. He said: “You have to keep the mental side. It is up to me to continue to work so that the manager trusts in me.

“I am keeping my head on my shoulders and I’m going to continue to work. I hope so (whether he can still become a success at PSG).”
