The Selhurst Park are being proactive in the event of losing Guehi. According to the Evening Standard, they have identified Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Maxence Lacroix of Wolfsburg as potential replacements.

Palace have already signed Barcelona defender Chadi Riad this summer for up to £14million.

Eddie Howe is hoping to make Guehi, who was starred at Euro 2024, his sixth summer signing. On Thursday, United confirmed the £15m arrival of Will Osula from Sheffield United.

“[He’s] a player I’ve known since Jason’s time at Sheffield United,” said Howe. “We’ve been tracking his career the last three years - a player that really excites us, I think he’s got some really good raw ingredients to become a very, very good centre forward.

“He’s got extreme pace, really good physical profile 6ft 3in verging on 6ft 4in and he’s got good technical skills as well. There’s areas of his game to develop obviously but I think he’s coming to the right place to do that.”
