Newcastle United given £30m transfer demand and join race for £66m star

The latest Newcastle United transfer news.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Watford attacker Joao Pedro and Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo as they eye more potential additions this summer.

Eddie Howe’s side have so far delved into the transfer market to bring in goalkeeper Nick Pope from Burnley, left-back Matt Targett from Aston Villa and centre-back Sven Botman from Lille.

They are now being linked with some new names following their opening two games of the new Premier League season.

Striker’s price tag

Joao Pedro is believed to be on their radar and his current club Watford want £30million for his signature, according to a report by Football Insider.

The 20-year-old has been with the Hornets since 2020 after they lured him to England from Fluminense in his native Brazil.

He has scored 14 goals in 76 games for the Hertfordshire outfit since then and may now be seen by Newcastle as someone to add more competition to their options up front.

Midfielder on radar?

The Toon Army are said to have joined fellow top flight club West Ham United in the race to sign Arthur Melo from Juventus.

That’s according to Italian news outlet Tutto Juve, who claim Premier League sides are in for him now after a move to Valencia collapsed.

Arthur, 26, has slipped down the pecking order of his current club and is expected to move on before the end of the window.

The Brazilian midfielder has been with the Serie A giants since 2020, having previously played for Gremio and Barcelona.

Newcastle could have identified him as a target to inject some more depth into their midfield department which would come in handy for a 38+ game season.
