But as it stands, neither club has made a breakthrough with the Ligue 1 outfit reportedly raising their asking price to £37million.

As per Calciomercato, Milan are ready to “give up” on signing the Netherlands international with Lille’s demands too high.

Sven Botman boost for Newcastle?

That could open the door for Newcastle, who aren’t prepared to walk away from negotiations just yet, although are exploring other options just in case.

Tellingly however, this isn’t the first time sources in Italy have claimed Milan are ready to walk away from Botman.

Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth watched on from the stands with his son Zac named among the Wales substitutes.

Botman addressed his future during his time on international duty and confirmed he is expecting to leave France during the summer.

He told Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad: “I don’t know (if I have played my last game for Lille)but I think so.

“I intend to take a step. Talks are underway now.

“I won’t go into all of that, but it’s going well. I do hope that the transfer for the new season is completed. Preferably also for the pre-season, yes.”
