In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding St James’ Park.

Veiga latest

Newcastle could get a free run at Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga this summer amid links.

Sport are reporting that Celta Vigo will not accept anything less than the player’s £35million release clause after beating the La Liga drop, and that appears to have ruled Real Madrid out of the race. It’s claimed Los Blancos will not pay that much for Veiga, and that will give Premier League clubs a clear run at the signing.

It’s claimed Liverpool and Newcastle are now likely to battle it out for the midfielder, although it’s unclear if either side will meet that release clause.

Felix offer

Sticking with Spanish-related reports, Newcastle are said to have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix on loan.

Felix spent the back-end of last season on loan at Chelsea, and while he showed flashes, the Blues were a disaster overall, and few stood out. According to the Chronicle, Atletico are keen to offload Felix again, and they know they will likely need to strike a loan deal. It’s claimed Newcastle have been offered a loan deal for £11million for the year.

That’s a pricey loan deal, but Atletico paid around £100million for Felix, so a permanent signing is out of the question this summer.
