Newcastle United transfer target Hakim Ziyech is reportedly still in line to depart Chelsea before the end of the transfer window despite forcing his way into Graham Potter’s plans.

The Moroccan international has cut a frustrated figure at Stamford Bridge after making just six starts in all competitions so far this season. Blues manager Graham Potter has named Ziyech in his starting eleven in four of their last five games but there is still an expectation the former Ajax winger could secure a loan move over the next eight days.

The Telegraph recently revealed Ziyech is one of three Blues players on Eddie Howe’s radar with Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek said to be on the Magpies list of targets this month.

Everton are also believed to be keen on securing Ziyech on loan until the end of the season but their plans could change after they confirmed they had parted company with manager Frank Lampard on Monday afternoon.

A 2-0 defeat at West Ham United left Everton sat second from bottom in the Premier League table after a run of just three wins in their opening 20 games of the season and he admitted his future was out of his hands in the aftermath of the loss.

He said: “Those things are not my choice, it is my job to work, focus and keep my head down. I know there’s things going on at the club but it’s never been a consequence for me whether a chairman or board member is at the game.

“I was at Chelsea for 18 months and the owner didn’t come to one competitive game. It’s not about that to me. It’s not for me to guess what he thought about the game. It would hard for me to sit here and talk about the right direction because of the result. We stayed up by the skin of our teeth last year and were five points shy of safety with not many games to go.”

Despite Lampard’s departure, Everton are expected to confirm the loan signing of reported Newcastle target Arnaut Danjuma over the next 24 hours.
