Newcastle United have had a busy January transfer window so far, with the signings of Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes.

This is the first window since their Saudi-led takeover in September, making them one of the richest clubs in the world.

Eddie Howe is set to use their wealth in order to bring more new additions to his squad and push for Premier League survival in the second half of the season.

Reports suggest the Magpies are looking to add at least three more players on deadline day, with two Manchester United stars on their shortlist.

According to Sky Sports’ journalist Keith Downes, Newcastle have had a bid accepted for Stade Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.

He claims that an initial offer of £29m with add-ons was rejected by the Reims, but the Magpies have upped their bid in order to bring the 19-year-old to St James Park before today’s 11pm deadline.

Ekitike has made 20 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season, scoring eight goals and assisting his teammates on four occasions.

Another name in the frame for a potential switch to the North East is Dean Henderson. The England international has struggled for game-time at United this campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

As per talkSPORT, Newcastle are ‘in talks’ with the Red Devils over a move for Henderson on deadline day.

They add that Howe is ‘unconvinced’ by Magpies’ no.1 Martin Dubravka and enquired with Arsenal about the possibility of bringing Bernd Leno to the club. However, it seems that Henderson is now the favoured option.

Jesse Lingard could finally seal a switch to St James Park on deadline day, with the Magpies in ‘advanced’ stages with United for the 29-year-old, according to 90min.

Lingard’s contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season and wants to leave the Red Devils this month.

The site adds there is ‘real optimism’ that a deal can be concluded before the 11pm deadline.
