Newcastle United injury latest as news is awaited over three key players

Some big names are getting closer to a return to fitness.

The constant theme to the opening seven weeks of Newcastle United’s Premier League season has been one of frustration with injuries.

The campaign was not even underway when Eddie Howe suffered his first major blow when key midfielder Jonjo Shelvey limped out of the pre-season friendly defeat at Benfica and was ruled out of the action for a number of months.

Things went from bad to worse for the United boss when lead striker Callum Wilson hobbled off in the action-packed 3-3 draw with Manchester City and full-back Emil Krafth sustained a long-term injury in the Carabao Cup win at Tranmere Rovers.

There has been little letup in the bad news for the Magpies with Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, Karl Darlow and Allan Saint-Maximin all spending time in the treatment room in recent weeks - but when could United see some big-name players return?

NewcastleWorld takes a look at when Howe may be able to call upon the services of some of his injured players with the help of the PremierInjuries.com website.
