Newcastle United still have work to do in the race to secure Premier League safety.

The Magpies are well on their way to dodging the drop following a resurgence under Eddie Howe, but they will feel a lot better when they take their points tally into the upper 30s and possibly early 40s.

The defeat to Everton before the break was a significant one, and no team wants to go into the international break with a late defeat ringing in their ears.

But confidence of survival is still very much there, and planning will already be underway for the summer, when Newcastle will be looking to spend.

Here we look at all the latest transfer rumours.

Kelly scouting

Newcastle have been linked with a move for Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly this week, and Football Insider have followed up that news with a fresh report.

It’s claimed the Magpies are keen on Kelly to the point of sending scouts to every one of his games between now and the end of the season.

Newcastle are already said to have completed scouting missions on the Bournemouth star, who looks a likely target.

Deal still on despite contract

The Magpies have another defensive option in Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio.

Inacio has been linked with Newcastle in the past, and it was feared any hope of a move could be scuppered by a new contract.

But O Jogo report the new contract only adds a year to his existing deal, improving his pay packet, but his release clause remains at a rather accessible £37.5million.
