Another young Brazilian is reportedly on Newcastle United’s transfer radar.

Newcastle United are among the clubs showing interest in Palmeiras star Giovani - according to reports in Brazil.

The Magpies continue to be linked with some of South America’s finest talents with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes on their books, as well as Miguel Almiron.

Only a few weeks ago did United chief scout Steve Nickson reportedly fly to Brazil to watch Santos’ 17-year-old star Angelo Gabriel.

Nickson was said to have told Santos that United would be willing to pay £17million for his services but their valuation is set much higher.

The Angelo talk has gone quiet since then, with Newcastle now linked with another promising young Brazilian.

Palmeiras’ Giovani, according to ESPN Brazil, is on United’s radar after starring in the club’s Sao Paulo Junior Football Cup win earlier this year.

The 18-year-old, who made his senior debut last year, has also caught the attention of Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen having recently recovered from an ankle injury.

Indeed, it’s claimed Ajax have already had a £10m rejected for Giovani, who is protected by a staggering £50m release clause.

Palmeiras sold another young star Gabriel Veron to Porto not too long ago, so there is an “incentive” to keep hold of Giovani.
