Newcastle United, Leeds & Everton’s shock position in the Premier League table - if matches lasted 60 minutes

Could 60-minute Premier League games become a thing of the future?

Trials that will see football matches played over two 30-minute halves could get underway in May - if approval is given by the International Football Association board.

iNews reported the Portuguese Football Federation are looking to trial a new setup in an Under-23s cup competition and are seeking approval.

The trial would see the game clock stopped every time the ball goes out of play or the action is paused for an injury in an attempt to stop sides using time-wasting tactics and would follow a similar system to the one used in Rugby.

The suggestion follows on from a CIES Football Observatory suggestion that the ball is in play for just under an hour after they analysed games in 36 leagues around Europe during the 2018/19 season.

But how would this season’s Premier League table look if matches had been ended with an hour on the clock?
