Newcastle United line-up to face Nottingham Forest: One debut as summer signing is benched

Eddie Howe has named his first Newcastle United starting XI of the new Premier League season - with Nottingham Forest the visitors to St James’ Park.

Nick Pope makes his competitive debut for Newcastle United against Nottingham Forest - as Sven Botman is named among the substitutes.

Summer signing Pope, a £10million arrival from Burnley, gets the nod ahead of Martin Dubravka in between the sticks.

£35million man Botman, meanwhile, is named as a sub with Dan Burn and Fabian Schar continuing their partnership at centre-half.

Matt Targett and Kieran Trippier start as the two full-backs,

In midfield, Joe Willock joins Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton following Jonjo Shelvey’s hamstring.

Callum Wilson leads the line with Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron deployed as the wingers.
