Alexander Isak makes his first St James’ Park start against Crystal Palace - as Eddie Howe names two changes to his starting XI.

Both changes are at centre-half with Fabian Schar and Sven Botman replacing Jamaal Lascelles and Dan Burn.

Isak retains his place after shaking off a dead leg against Liverpool, where he scored on his debut on Wednesday.

Bruno Guimaraes and Allan Saint-Maximin are close to returning from their respective hamstring injuries but the visit of Palace is a game too soon for the pair.

Speaking ahead of today’s game, Howe said: “Crystal Palace have done very well this season. They’ve had a tough fixture list themselves, as we have, and they’ve managed themselves well through those tough encounters.

“I expect St. James’ Park to be rocking again. I think the Anfield experience at the end there will hopefully get the crowd into the game from minute one, and certainly I want to see a positive reaction from my team from what happened.”
