Newcastle United could sign David De Gea on a free transfer

David De Gea was released by Manchester United in the summer after 12 years with the Red Devils - as things stand, he has still yet to find a new club. However, after Nick Pope suffered a potentially long-term shoulder injury, the door is now open for him to join the Magpies on a free transfer.

Newcastle are 'weighing up' a move for the former Spanish international, according to Football Insider - his wages could be an issue, though. He was on £375,000 a week during his time at Old Trafford upon his release - he may want a wage that closely resembles this amount at St. James' Park.

Toon 'keen' on transfer for Matias Soule

Newcastle, as well as Crystal Palace, are both scouting 20-year-old Juventus winger Matias Soule. This is according to Italian sports media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport - should either club look to make a deal with the Old Lady for Soule's signature, they will need to pay a fee in the region of £20 million.

He won't be able to join Newcastle in January, as he is currently out on loan at Frosinone. Nevertheless, this will not stop the Toon from finalising a future transfer for the player should they choose to do so.
