'Close relationship' - Newcastle United link up teased after 'partner' completes statement takeover
Newcastle United could be set to benefit from the takeover of fellow city sporting institution, the Newcastle Falcons, by Austrian drinks giant Red Bull.
According to the Guardian, Red Bull have agreed to not only buyout current owner Semore Kurdi - who has been trying to shift the club on for more than a year - but also write off their considerable debts, which had put the long-term future of the Kingston Park outfit at risk.

The deal will see the Premiership remain a 10-team competition next season, and part of the plans for the club are to remain at their current home, rather than relocate to Darlington, which had been a distinct possibility.
But, it might not just oval ball fans rejoicing, with the report stating the £39million deal could well see closer ties forged with the Magpies. Red Bull are already a commercial partner with the football club, but also the women’s team play their matches at Kingston Park, too.

The except from the Guardian states: “Given the company’s footballing connections Red Bull is also expected to seek a close working relationship with Newcastle United. The club’s outgoing sporting director Paul Mitchell previously worked at RB Leipzig.”
While it is definitely a case of Mitchell out, could it be closer ties with Red Bull moving forward? Only time will tell.

Back in October 2024, after a deal with Monster elapsed, Newcastle United revealed their official drinks brand partner as Red Bull.
The deal was revealed as a multi-year partnership which “will see the Austrian drinks company become the Official Energy Drink Partner of Newcastle United, helping to fuel performance across men's and women's teams”.
Since then, Red Bull branding has been spotted on drinks bottles at the club’s training ground, as well as on advertising space around St James’ Park. They’ve also had DJs and handouts next to the Milburn and Gallowgate corner throughout the season. Even the club press room has a free supply of Red Bull fridges for journalists on matchdays.
On the partnership, Newcastle United's Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, said: "Attracting leading brands to Newcastle United continues to be at the forefront of our exciting commercial growth and Red Bull is a fantastic addition to our partnership family.
