However, Goal have reported Sevilla have rejected United’s latest bid, which is believed that have been around £30million. Talks are said to be ongoing between the two clubs.

French outlet Foot Mercato have also reported that Monaco have rejected a Magpies bid for highly-rated defender Benoit Badiashile.

Meanwhile, one name that has returned to the radar is Atalanta’s German left-back Robin Gosens, who TalkSPORT believe could complete a £29million move to St James Park by the end of the week.

That suggestion is backed up by Italian news outlet CalicoMercato, who suggest the Magpies will offer the German international a signing-on fee of around £3million.

Gosens is not the only player that could make a move from Atalanta to Tyneside according to Duncan Castles.

He has stated striker Duvan Zapata is a target for Newcastle, with a fee of around £38million suggested for the 30-year-old Colombian international.

Sources are home and abroad have indicated Real Madrid star Eden Hazard has rejected a move to St James’ Park.

El Nacional and the Daily Mail have both stated United made a bid for the former Chelsea winger - but Hazard has no interest in returning to the Premier League with Eddie Howe’s side.

L’Equipe have thrown Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea back into the mix after the French hitman was initially linked with the Magpies during Rafa Benitez’s reign at the club.

The forward has 18 months on his contract and could leave the Bundesliga club.

Newcastle’s search for a centre-back has led them to a Premier League rival according to TeamTalk.

They have indicated the Magpies will target Everton’s Colombian international defender Yerry Mina and are hoping to strike a loan deal with the Toffees.
