Eddie Howe and his Newcastle United staff will already be hard at work in a bid to improve for next season.

The Magpies stars will already be on their holidays after a fine second half of the season, but the work will continue behind the scenes.

Howe will be desperate to improve his squad and to put his own mark on it in his first summer window in charge.

Fortunately for the former Bournemouth boss, he will have a healthy budget to work with thanks to Newcastle’s takeover late last year.

That budget has Newcastle fans excited, but with no pedigree of success in recent times, it will not be easy for the club to attract big-name players, especially if bigger clubs are interested.

Howe will have to work hard on that front, and as he gets to work on summer arrivals, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours.

Diaby chase

Newcastle are said to be attempting to sign French winger Moussa Diaby.

According to L’Equipe, the Bayer Leverkusen winger has now become a ‘priority’ target for the Magpies this summer.

Diaby is still only 22 years of age, but he has managed 17 goals and 14 assists this season, having come through PSG’s academy.

Howe will want more threat in the top half of the pitch heading into next season, and Diaby looks to be a dangerous and exciting prospect.

Winks asking price

The Magpies have also been linked with a move for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks.

And they now know how much they will have to pay to land the Spurs star, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

It’s claimed Tottenham are willing to sell Winks this summer, but they want £25million for his services.

Newcastle will have to weigh up whether they want to pay that much, but they will have to be quick about it, with Southampton also said to be interested.
