The transfer speculation surrounding Newcastle United has continued to intensify as Monday’s deadline draws ever closer.

The Magpies have already added Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier to their squad so far this month - and are working hard to add further new faces to Eddie Howe’s squad as they look to preserve their Premier League status.

Lingard loan in trouble

Several outlets have reported Newcastle’s attempts to take Manchester United and England midfielder Jesse Lingard are set to fail

The Athletic have stated Lingard held talks with Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick, who gave the go-ahead for a short-term move.

The Magpies offer of a £5million loan fee does not meet the demands of the Old Trafford hierarchy - and, although talks are ongoing, it seems unlikely a move will now be completed.

Lingard is out of contract at the end of the season and can now negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad.

The Guardian have suggested the Magpies seemingly failed move for Jesse Lingard has forced them to turn their focus towards a deal for Dele Alli.

The Spurs and England midfielder is believed to have been offered on loan to a number of clubs and a temporary move to Tyneside could be completed ahead of Monday’s deadline.

The Telegraph have also reported Alli has interest from clubs in the Bundesliga.

Left-back search takes United back to former target

SportItalia have reported the Magpies have returned to a former target as they look to add a left-sided defender to Eddie Howe’s squad.

With primary target Robin Gosens set to join Inter and a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Mitchel Bakker now unlikely, United are now turning their focus towards Sassuolo’s left-back Rogerio.

The Magpies were previously linked with a move for the Brazilian in the summer of 2020 and now look ready to make another attempt to secure his signature.

France international defender has “concrete” offer from Newcastle

Another defender on the United radar is PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa - according to GFFN.

The report suggests the Ligue 1 giants have instructed the player’s agents to find a new club for the defender and Newcastle have made a “concrete approach” for the 13-times capped France international.

Arsenal’s German international goalkeeper Bernd Leno has once again been linked with a move to Tyneside.

Leno has been forced to play a supporting role to Gunners number one Aaron Ramsdale this season and football.london believe he could make a short-term move to St James Park.

Price set for “the new Mane”

French outlet RMC Sport believe Marseille could be willing to let forward Bamba Dieng leave the club for a fee of around £8.3million.

The 21-year-old Senegal international has been linked with a move to Newcastle earlier this month and the likes of Burnley, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are all said to be monitoring the situation.

Dieng has been likened to international team-mate and current Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
