Midfielder back from EFL loan

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed on their retained list that Jeff Hendrick has gone back to Newcastle. The 32-year-old, who played 12 times for the Owls in this past campaign, is out of contract at the end of next month and is expected to head out the exit door on a free transfer.

He joined the Toon Army back in 2020 having previously been on the books at Burnley and Derby County. The former Republic of Ireland international has since made 27 appearances and has also had temporary stints away at QPR and Reading in the past to get some game time.

Elsewhere, Ryan Fraser has helped Southampton reach the Championship play-off final after their 3-0 win over West Brom in the semi-finals. They will face Leeds United at Wembley.

Winger latest

Newcastle have been heavily linked with a swoop for Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville in the next transfer window. In this latest update regarding his future at Elland Road by the Daily Mail, he would be ‘likely’ to leave if the Whites fail to get promoted to the top flight next weekend and he has been ‘watched’ by the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool.

Daniel Farke may need to sell a whole host of players if the Yorkshire club remain in the Championship. Summerville has been their star man in this campaign and has fired 21 goals.
