Newcastle United & Man United-linked star set for medical after agreeing five-year deal

Inter Milan have won the race for Marcus Thuram - with the Frenchman expected to undergo his medical this week.
Thuram will become a free agent on July 1 after turning down a new contract at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

Hide AdThe 25-year-old scored 44 goals in 134 appearances after joining from Guingamp in 2019, as well as establishing himself as a France international.
Thuram has attracted interest from Manchester United and Chelsea and is said to have rejected offers from Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and AC Milan to join Inter.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Thuram has agreed a five-year contract worth £5.5million per season and is set to undergo his medical this week.
Newcastle United’s recent transfer links to Thuram were fuelled by Allan Saint-Maximin, who is close friends with the winger.

Hide AdBoth players have represented France at under-17s, under-20s and under-21s level together, while they both played in Boulogne-Billancourt’s youth academy.
Saint-Maximin admitted at the beginning of the year he’d like to see Thuram move to St James’ Park.

Saint-Maximin’s comments were put to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe by NewcastleWorld, though he played down any interest.
“He’s a top player,” Howe said. “But, yeah, no more than that. He’s one that I watched in the World Cup, for sure, but no more than that.”
