One Newcastle United star is considering his options on transfer deadline day as a former Magpies heads to France.

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden is reportedly set to shun a move to Sheffield Wednesday to make a move to Belgium.

The former Arsenal academy product has not featured for the Magpies since he started in a 4-0 home defeat against Manchester City in December 2021 and spent the majority of last season on loan at Championship club Norwich City.

Hayden was said to be set to join second tier newcomers Wednesday on loan but The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has now reported the midfielder is now the subject of a late bid from Standard Liege. Sky Sports News have also reported on the potential move suggesting the Magpies star is ‘considering his options’ and describing the Belgian side as ‘an attractive prospect’.

The Stade Maurice Dufresne club are currently sat in the bottom four of the Belgian Pro League ahead of Saturday’s home game with RWD Molenbeek after drawing two and losing three of their opening five games of the season.

Former Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has completed a shock deadline day move to Ligue 2 club Amiens.

Amiens currently sit in second place in French football’s second tier after winning three of their first four games this season as they look to bounce back from relegation from Ligue 1 at the first attempt. Carroll’s new team-mates include former Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta, who spent eight years at Stamford Bridge as well as spending time out on loan with the likes of Fulham, Lazio and Bolton Wanderers.
