The 20-year-old joined the League Two side during the final week of the summer transfer window and made his debut in a 2-1 defeat against Cheltenham Town in EFL Trophy.

Miley uploaded a photo to Instagram from a hospital bed on Thursday night captioned “surgery done, back on the mend”, although the exact nature of his injury wasn’t known until Jardim’s update on Saturday.
With younger brother Lewis sidelined because of a metatarsal fracture and Sandro Tonali still suspended at the time, the 20-year-old featured in pre-season friendlies against SpVgg Unterhaching, Hull City and Urawa Red Diamonds before making his senior St James’ Park bow versus Girona.

“Good tactically which isn’t easy for someone so young to come in and deliver that. As always with Jamie, he’s very level-headed and calm. That will have been a big moment in his career and I was delighted with how he did.”
Despite impressing, Newcastle decided a loan move would be best served for the midfielder’s development. However, that is currently on hold whilst he completes his recovery.
