Eddie Nketiah is set to sign a new lucrative contract with Arsenal to end speculation surrounding his future.

The 23-year-old’s current deal will expire at the end of the month but the striker is poised to make a U-turn by putting pen to paper.

Newcastle United were first linked with Eketiah in January when it appeared certain that he would not be committing his future to the Gunners.

However, after enjoying greater playing time under Mikel Arteta in the latter stages of last season, it’s widely reported that Eketiah is expected to stay at the Emirates.

Nketiah is rumoured to have been offered a five-year deal worth £100,00-a-week.

Had the former Leeds United loanee left Arsenal, a clutch of Premier League clubs will have no doubt been fighting to seal his signature.

“My future is going to be sorted out in the near future,” Eketiah told Sky Sports News in May.

“I can put that to one side as we’ve only got four games left. I can give my all to the team and help us achieve our goals. Then I’ll sit down and see what’s best. Wherever I am next season, as long as I’m happy and playing football, that’ll be great.”

Talks continue between Newcastle and Reims star Hugo Ekitike, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a target, though Everton will demand a huge transfer fee.
