Absolute nonsense - More rubbish spouted on Newcastle United captain as Man United involved
Bruno Guimaraes is currently on an extended break following his participation at the World Cup.
Dwight Yorke has bizarrely claimed that Bruno Guimaraes is not good enough for Manchester United.
The Red Devils have bolstered their midfield department by signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. Casemiro’s exit left a void in Michael Carrick’s engine room and Man United have forked out around £100million on the new recruits.
Guimaraes was linked with a move to Old Trafford earlier this year. However, talk soon cooled, with Eddie Howe labelling the speculation as “totally disrespectful" in March.
Arsenal want Bruno Guimaraes
Arsenal have emerged as the club most likely to prise the Brazilian from St James’ Park. It is understood that Guimaraes would be open to joining the Premier League champions.
However, the Gunners have not tabled a formal offer or made contact with Newcastle United. For now, it appears Arsenal have unsettled United's best player for no apparent reason.
Arsenal and Newcastle are wide apart in terms of valuation for the 28-year-old. As it stands, Guimaraes is currently on an extended break following his participation at the World Cup.
Dwight Yorke spouts nonsense
Speaking to Boyle Sports, former Man United striker Yorke has suggested Guimaraes is not good enough for Carrick’s side. Despite registering four assists, he was also not impressed with the Toon ace at the World Cup.
“I don’t know about Bruno Guimaraes,” Yorke said. “I am not sure he has been that impressive…I watched him play for Brazil at the World Cup and he’s not convinced me. I think he is good, he has shown that at Newcastle United.
“He has got a good work ethic. I understand the value of that. But is that what you are paying for when you sign a player to come to Man U? A good work ethic? He is a solid player…but is Bruno Guimaraes going to take Man U to another level? Will Bruno Guimaraes put Man U any closer to the Premier League title. He doesn’t excite me.
“I’m not seeing him picking up a ball and boom, sending over one of those diagonal passes or cutting defenders apart with one ball. I just don’t see that quality from him. I’m not saying he’s not a good player but is that where Man U are at now?
“Just buying players because they’re solid? Bring me players that are going to make us superior! I’m not so sure that’s Bruno Guimaraes. The World Cup was an opportunity for him to tell the world there’s a reason why a team like Manchester United are going to be after me, and he’s come up short, in my opinion.”
