A fee in the region of £58million is believed to have been reached with Isak on the verge of becoming United’s fourth summer signing.
Newcastle bolstered their backline with the arrivals of Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman but have been frustrated in their efforts to sign attacking reinforcements.
Moves for Hugo Ekitike, who joined Paris Saint-Germain, and most recently Joao Pedro have been explored, however, the Magpies have pushed ahead with a deal for Isak.

The forward, viewed as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, has scored 33 in 105 La Liga appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

As well as featuring as a No.9, Isak is also capable of playing in the wide areas - versatility that will be key in Eddie Howe’s team.
Isak has recently attracted interest from Arsenal and speaking to the Independent last year, Isak revealed his openness to a Premier League move.
He said: “I’m in a good place at the moment, I’m very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well.
“They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative.

“Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level. I have expectations for myself that I’m trying to fulfill, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future.”
Newcastle will now discuss personal terms with the player and fly him over to Tyneside to complete his medical.
Isak has been among United’s top targets this summer. Previously, a deal looked beyond them, but now a transfer is close to being finalised.
Howe’s side take on Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup tonight before travelling to Wolves on Sunday.
