Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has posted a classy message on social media after the Magpies relegated Burnley on the final day of the Premier League season.

A Callum Wilson double, either side of half-time saw the Clarets relegated - and United climb to 11th-place in the top flight table.

And while it was joy from a Newcastle perspective at Burnley, Reuben took the time to offer his commiserations to the opposition, as a Leeds win, combined with a loss at Turf Moor ensured they’ll be playing their football in the Championship next season.

On Twitter, he said: “Great performance, win and season. Thank you to the travelling NUFC supporters for their incredible support today and throughout the season often travelling such long distances. Commiserations to Burnley - see you back in the EPL soon.”

Meanwhile, fellow co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi also took to Twitter to congratulate the team.

He said: “Newcastle UNITED can’t wait for next season!”
