Today is the day. The day the city of Newcastle celebrates it’s Carabao Cup heroes.
The Magpies’ squad will parade through the streets of Newcastle, from St James’ Park, down Percy Street then down to the Town Moor, where approximately 150,000 people are expected to be waiting for them, for a festival of black and white. Many hundreds of thousands of fans are also expected to line the tight Tyneside streets, to thank the lads for their efforts in ending a domestic trophy drought that stretched back, ‘til March 16, at least, 70 years.
Supporters with tickets for the open-air event on the Town Moor are advised to arrive from 1:30pm onwards. Meanwhile, the open-top bus parade begins at St James’ Park at 4:30pm. Those with tickets for the Town Moor are encouraged to go directly to the Town Moor site, where the parade will be streamed live on large screens.
The event itself will feature a DJ, live band, 'Road to Wembley' highlights, a screening of the full cup final and special guests, including Ant & Dec, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand and Bob Moncur. And the city has been prepping for the events to come. Here’s some early shots from around the city of Newcastle.
