Newcastle United player ratings as star is awarded 9 for ‘easy afternoon’s work’ versus 1860 Munich
Newcastle United player ratings from the 3-0 win over German third-tier side 1860 Munich at the Saalfelden Arena.
Nick Pope and Sven Botman made their non-competitive Newcastle United debuts in a 3-0 victory over 1860 Munich.
It was a frustrating first-half for Eddie Howe’s side, who lacked any kind of intensity or cutting edge in for first game in Austria.
After the break however, United were much improved and fully deserved their three goals, courtesy of Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes.
The Magpies opened the scoring on 55 minutes when Willock latched onto Jonjo Shelvey’s cutback to fire the ball into the roof of the net.
Howe changed his entire team on the hour-mark except summer signing Sven Botman, who was introduced in place of Jamaal Lascelles at half-time.
One of the changes Longstaff quickly got on the scoresheet when he received a pass from Guimaraes to turn and produce an emphatic finish.
Guimaraes then added a goal to his name on 76 minutes when he linked up with striker Chris Wood.
