Newcastle United picked up a much-needed 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon - here are the player ratings from the match.
The Magpies went into the game on the back of successive Premier League defeats while Palace were looking to bounce back from a 5-0 thrashing at rivals Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Palace drew 2-2 against Besiktas in Turkey on Thursday evening and could have been forgiven for a slightly sluggish start to the match but Newcastle also lacked quality themselves as the sides went in 0-0 at the break.
But within two minutes of the restart, Newcastle broke the deadlock through William Osula’s first goal of the season. Jacob Murphy’s cross from the right was volled in from close range by the Danish forward to make it 1-0.
Joe Willock thought he’d made it 2-0 moments later, but his strike was ruled out for offside following a VAR check.
Shortly after that, Harvey Barnes actually made it 2-0 as he turned in Amar Dedic’s low cross with a smart first-time finish.
And Newcastle were able to hold on for three points and a clean sheet at Selhurst Park to move up to seventh in the Premier League table.
Here are our Newcastle United player ratings from the match...

9. Jacob Murphy - 6
A passenger in the first half but came alive early in the second with a sharp cross into the box to set up Osula's opener. Ultimately justified his return to the starting line-up with a strong defensive showing and a moment of attacking quality when it mattered. | Getty Images

10. Harvey Barnes - 7
Got the ball in some decent areas but kept seeing his efforts blocked in the first half. Did well early in the second half to turn in Dedic's cross for his fourth of the season, doubling Newcastle's lead in the process. | AFP via Getty Images

11. William Osula - 7
A nice opportunity opened up for him in the first 10 minutes but he held on to the ball and saw his effort blocked. Hardly touched the ball in the first half but scored with his first touch inside the box within two minutes of the restart, a smart finish. | AFP via Getty Images

12. SUB: Yoane Wissa - n/a
On for Osula 77: Some fresh legs up front for the closing stages. Should have done better with a late opportunity. | Getty Images
