Newcastle United player ratings from the 4-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Newcastle United sealed their second win of the Premier League season with a comprehensive 4-1 win at Fulham.

An early red card for Nathaniel Chalobah set the Magpies on their way to a comfortable victory after a Miguel Almiron brace and goals from Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff.

Bobby Decordova-Reid pulled one back for Fulham late on as Eddie Howe’s side leapfrogged their hosts to move up 7th in the table.

Howe named four changes to his Newcastle starting XI with Joelinton, Matt Targett and Ryan Fraser surprisingly named on the bench.

Longstaff, Sven Botman and Jacob Murphy came into the side, as did Wilson, who made his return in Alexander Isak’s absence.

Just seven minutes in, the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Chalobah was sent off for a reckless challenge on Longstaff.

Referee Darren England initially awarded a yellow card before reviewing the decision at the VAR monitor to reach the correct outcome.

The Magpies quickly made their man advantage count with Wilson opening the scoring just four minutes later.

The United No.9 was alert in the box to tap home after Joe Willock’s header across the six-yard box.

Howe’s side dictated the game from then on and added a second on 33 minutes via Almiron’s stunning volley - a certain goal of October contender.

And it was 3-0 before half-time when Longstaff reacted quickest to Bernd Leno’s acrobatic save to keep out Sven Botman’s header.

Almrion doubled his tally soon after the break by latching onto to Willock’s cross before he was denied a hat-trick via the offside flag.

Decordova-Reid scored a consolation for the hosts as United their first away win of the 2022-23 campaign.
