Newcastle United player ratings from the 5-1 victory over Brentford at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after an emphatic 5-1 win over Brentford.

Bruno Guimaraes scored another St James’ Park brace with Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron also on target as Ethan Pinnock netted a late own goal.

That’s the Magpies biggest win under Eddie Howe - adding to last weekend’s 4-1 win at Fulham.

Howe named an unchanged starting XI from the side that beat Fulham last weekend as the returning Allan Saint-Maximin was named on the bench.

The Magpies received a major let-off 10 minutes in when Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo had his opener ruled out for an offside on Ivan Toney.

It acted as a wake-up call for United, who got their noses in front in the 21st minute when a lovely worked corner was headed in by Bruno Guimaraes.

A huge error from David Raya then handed Newcastle a second as Callum Wilson cut out the Brentford goalkeeper’s pass to find Murphy six yards out.

It threatened to be game on after the break when Ivan Toney scored his spot-kick after a Dan Burn handball.

However, another Guimaraes’ goal - this time from distance - came at a key time, while Almiron scored his third goal in just two games.

Pinnock scored a late own goal to wrap up a five-star display by the Magpies, who moved up to fifth in the Premier League table.
