Newcastle United player ratings: Magpies return to winning ways with 4-1 win over Chelsea at St James' Park.

Newcastle United returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 4-1 win over Chelsea at St James' Park.

Eddie Howe named three enforced changes to his starting XI. Lewis Hall, ineligible to face his parent club, was replaced by Tino Livramento while injuries to Sean Longstaff & Joe Willock saw Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak recalled.

Lewis Miley retained his spot to make only his second Premier League start and the 17-year-old played a key part in the opening as Isak opened the scoring in the 13th minute.

Chelsea, however, quickly responded. Raheem Sterling, fouled by Kieran Trippier for the resulting free-kick, curled home with Nick Pope totally unmoved.

Newcastle remained on the front foot and scored two goals in as many minutes on the hour-mark to put the game out of sight.

A cross by Anthony Gordon was headed home by skipper Jamaal Lascelles before an error by Thiago Silva gifted Joelinton his first goal of the campaign.

Chelsea introduced Mykhailo Mudryk, Armando Broja and Moises Caicedo in search of a response but their misery was compounded by Reece James' red card for two bookable offences and Gordon, who added a fourth in the 83rd minute.

Here's our Newcastle United player ratings from the win at St James' Park.
