Newcastle United player ratings: 'Torrid' 3/10 & 'Troubled' 4/10 in defeat to Tottenham Hotspur

Newcastle United player ratings v Tottenham Hotspur as Magpies suffer a 4-1 defeat in North London.

Newcastle United's Premier League away day struggles continued with a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Richarlison scored a brace with Destiny Udogie and Heung-Min Song also got on the scoresheet.

Newcastle United's starting XI was unchanged from the 3-0 defeat to Everton on Thursday evening but the return of Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff to the matchday squad significantly bolstered Howe's options.

Spurs started the better but the Magpies squandered two excellent opportunities when Bruno Guimaraes fired over from just outside the box before last-ditch defending by Ben Davies prevented Alexander Isak from tapping home Anthony Gordon's delivery.

But the home side continued to push for the opener and eventually ran rampant.

They took the lead in the 26th minute when Heung-Min Son's low cross was converted by Destiny dogie. The lead was then doubled 12 minutes later through Richarlison.

Spurs added another two in the second half. Richarlison secured his brace after a ball over the top by Pedro Porro before a penalty conceded by Martin Dubravka saw Son convert from the spot.

Joelinton pulled one back in the closing stages as Eddie Howe's men suffered back-to-back losses ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash at home to AC Milan.

Here's our player ratings from the defeat in North London.
