Newcastle United beat Premier League champions Manchester City to advance into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. In a game of two halves, Alexander Isak’s 53rd-minute goal handed the Magpies the victory.
Eddie Howe named 10 changes from the 8-0 win at Sheffield United with Nick Pope the only survivor. Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Lewis Miley made their full debuts while Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett made their starts of the 2023-24 campaign.
Man City were dominant in the first-half but failed to find a breakthrough. Newcastle showed a lot more intent after the break and grabbed a winner through Isak.

Made a smart save to deny Julian Alvarez in the 18th minute. Routine save to Grealish later in the second-half. Commanded his box well.
2. Tino Livramento - 8.5
The most impressive out of the three full debutants. Strong defensively up against Jack Grealish and then Jeremy Doku. Attacked brilliantly down the right. Man of the match.
3. Jamaal Lascelles - 7
An important interception to prevent a City cross from reaching the box in the first-half. Very good in the air.
4. Paul Dummett - 7.5
Produced a standout moment on his first start in 12 months with a quality last-ditch challenge to stop Jack Grealish going one-v-one in the first-half.
