Newcastle United player ratings v Manchester United: ‘Dominant’ 9/10, four 8s & plenty 7s

Newcastle United player ratings from the 2-0 win against Manchester United at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United leapfrogged Manchester United into third in the Premier League table with a 2-0 win over Erik ten Hag’s side at St James’ Park.

While the possession was shared, Newcastle created 11 first-half chances, with Joe Willock missing two big chances. Sean Longstaff and Alexander Isak also went close.

Willock, however, redeemed himself midway through the second-half when he headed home Allan Saint-Maximin’s header back across goal.

Substitute Callum Wilson then made it 2-0 in the 88th minute when he headed home Kieran Trippier’s cross.

That’s now three wins in a row for Eddie Howe’s side, who have their eyes firmly on Champions League qualification.
