Newcastle United won for the first time in the Premier League under Matthias Jaissle with a 2-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur.
Nico Gonzalez made his Newcastle United debut as Matthias Jaissle made six changes from the 3-2 Carabao Cup second round win over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
The Spaniard came into the starting XI along with Lukas Hornicek, Lewis Miley, Anthony Elanga, Harvey Barnes and Yoane Wissa, as Ewen Jaouen, Sean Steur, Jacob Ramsey, Jacob Murphy, Bazoumana Toure and Nick Woltemade made way.
Elanga broke the deadlock on the hour mark after he got on the end of Dedic’s clever knockdown. On the turn, the Swedish international saw his effort go in off the post.
Wissa then doubled the Magpies’ lead in the 72nd minute. A deep corner by Lewis Hall was headed goalwards by substitute Nick Woltemade and the No.9 acrobatically flicked his shot past the Spurs goalkeeper.
Here are our Newcastle United player ratings:

1. Lukas Hornicek - 8.5
Showed strong reflexes and reactions to keep Tottenham Hotspur at bay. Assured, just like he was against Liverpool on the opening day. | Getty Images

2. Amar Dedic - 9
Outstanding at both ends of the pitch and claimed a third assist in two games. Tino Livramento has some job trying to get back into the XI. | Getty Images

3. Malick Thiaw - 7
Wore the armband once again in Dan Burn and Joelinton’s continued absence. Defended well in the main, bar some wayward passes. | Getty Images

4. Sven Botman - 8
Night and day to his performances in pre-season. Rock solid in his third 90 minutes in a row. Looking robust. | Getty Images
