Newcastle United player ratings vs Fulham: 'Excellent' Bruno Guimaraes & 5/10 'off day' in 1-0 win

Newcastle United player ratings as Bruno Guimaraes scores in 1-0 victory over Fulham,.

Bruno Guimaraes scored an 81st minute winner as Newcastle United recorded a Premier League double over Fulham.

Eddie Howe made two changes from Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at home to Everton. Anthony Gordon - back from suspension - replaced Harvey Barnes in the starting XI while Joe Willock was preferred ahead of Elliot Anderson.

In a passive first-half, the Magpies were relieved to be goalless at the break. Their frustrations were added to when Willock withdrew in the 40th minute, taking the club’s injury list a total of 12 players.

The game evened out in the second-half and Fabian Schar thought he put Newcastle in front in the 75th minute when he finished from Anthony Gordon’s cross. However, VAR intervened and referee Sam Allison disallowed the goal after spotting a foul from Dan Burn on Calvin Bassey.

But the Magpies did take the lead six minutes later. Substitute Barnes had a delivery cleared only as far as Bruno Guimaraes, who powered home from the edge of the box.

The result United extend their unbeaten run over Fulham to 10 matches, including six wins in a row.
