Newcastle United suffered back-to-back St James’ Park defeats after losing 2-1 to Fulham.
The Magpies led at half-time through Jacob Murphy but surrendered in the second-half following goals from Raul Jimenez and substitute Rodrigo Munoz.
As a result, Newcastle missed the opportunity to climb back into the Premier League top four.
Head coach Eddie Howe named an unchanged starting XI from last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Southampton. On the bench, Emil Krafth replaced Miguel Almiron, who re-joined Atlanta United earlier this week.
In the scrappy first half, Newcastle got their noses in front in the 37th minute when a great run and cross by Anthony Gordon was finished off by Jacob Murphy, who drilled the ball past goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
But a poor second-half performance ended in defeat. Raul Jimenez equalised when his effort deflected past Martin Dubravka before Andreas Pereira’s free-kick was flicked home by substitute Rodrigo Muniz.

2. Martin Dubravka - 6.5
Didn’t have a save to make in the first-half but was called into action twice immediately after the restart to deny Emile Smith Rowe. Beaten by a big deflection for the first goal. Couldn’t do anything about the second. | Getty Images

3. Tino Livramento - 5.5
A very mixed display. Had one bright moment when he held off Alex Iwobi and drove forward before his shot was saved by Bernd Leno’s outstretched leg. Mixed. | Getty Images

4. Fabian Schar - 6
Played on the frontfoot in the opening 45 minutes with switches of play and surging runs forward. Wasn’t able to do that in the second-half. Became wayward with his passing. | Getty Images
