Newcastle United player ratings vs Man City: 'Sumptuous' 7.5/10 & 'clumsy' 7/10 in late 3-2 defeat

Newcastle United 2-3 Manchester City: Magpies player ratings from St James' Park.

An injury-time winner by Oscar Bobb inflicted a sixth defeat in seven Premier League matches on Newcastle United.

The Magpies led 2-1 at half-time as goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon cancelled out Bernardo Silva's opener. Substitute Kevin de Bruyne equalised in the 74th minute before Bobb, another sub, found the net.

Eddie Howe named one enforced change to his Newcastle United starting XI as Lewis Miley came in for the injured Joelinton. United were also without Tino Livramento through illness.

Sean Longstaff thought he put the Magpies 1-0 up just two minutes in, however his celebrations were cut short with Isak flagged offside in the build-up. Ederson was injured when trying to deny Longstaff before being replaced by Stefan Ortega.

Despite's Newcastle positive start, Man City broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Bernardo Silva directed Kyle Walker's cross home. The home side immediately complained to referee Chris Kavanagh after he failed to award a free-kick to Anthony Gordon for what they felt was a foul by Ruben Dias in the build-up.

But United flipped the game on its head with a quick-fire double. Alexander Isak latched on Guimaraes' pass to curl the ball past Ortega before Gordon produced a similar finish.

Both Isak and Gordon faded in the second-half as City piled on the pressure. And their pressure told when De Bruyne found the net. Bobb then struck in the first minute of stoppage time as United suffered a fourth straight Premier League defeat.
